Hey there, it’s me, Amanda! Welcome to another one of my family beach sessions, where I get to share my love for Santa Rosa Beach family photography and the sweetest families who make this little stretch of 30A feel like home. Today on the blog, I’m sharing the L Family — an extended, multi-generational crew I’ve had the absolute joy of photographing many times, and every single year they make my heart happy.
An Extended Family Beach Session on 30A
The L Family rolled deep this year — grandparents, parents, kids, and cousins all gathered on the Santa Rosa Beach shoreline for their annual extended family portraits. They coordinated in classic crisp whites and denim, which always photographs SO beautifully against the sugar-white sand and the soft pastels of an Emerald Coast sunset. We met up just before golden hour, framed by sea oats and the soft silhouettes of the dune homes behind us, and got to work capturing every generation of this sweet family.
Why I Love Beach Photography
There is something genuinely magical about capturing memories on the beach. The gentle sound of the waves, the salty breeze, the warm sand under everyone’s feet — it all combines to create the perfect setting for portraits that feel relaxed, joyful, and timeless. As a Santa Rosa Beach family photographer, the beach gives me the ideal natural backdrop to create stunning images families will treasure for a lifetime, and it’s a place where everyone can come together to laugh, play, and make memories they’ll always remember.
Golden Hour & Coordinated Whites
One of my very favorite things about beach photography is the way natural light interacts with the surroundings during golden hour. The sunsets along 30A are simply breathtaking — golden, peachy, pastel hues that paint the sky and create the warmest, most inviting atmosphere. The L Family’s white-and-denim color palette caught the sunset glow perfectly, and every frame just feels like summer on the Emerald Coast.
Candid Moments & Posed Portraits
During a beach session, I love balancing candid moments with intentional posed portraits. With an extended family this large, we made sure to capture every grouping — the full multi-generational portrait of everyone together, grandparents with their grandkids, individual families, all the cousins lined up, and plenty of sweet, candid in-between shots where the kids ran toward the surf and the grown-ups laughed and hugged. Those candid frames are often the most treasured, because they truly capture the spirit of the moment.
Memories They’ll Cherish Forever
Whether you’re planning a 30A vacation or you live right here in Santa Rosa Beach, an extended family beach session is one of those investments you’ll never regret. These photos are the kind that get framed in living rooms, printed in albums, and looked at for years to come — a beautiful reminder of the love and joy you share as a family.
