The Heart Behind the Hustle: More Than Just a Game in PCB
There is something special about a weekend at the ballpark. The smell of the dirt, the sound of the dugout chatter, and the intensity of a close game. But as a parent and a photographer, I’ve realized that what happens between the lines is often a reflection of the leadership on the sidelines.
The Power of Positive Leadership
We have had the opportunity to watch many coaches across three kids and multiple sports. Through those experiences, we’ve learned to truly appreciate how lucky our son is to have this group of coaches in his life.
Brody is learning, growing, and becoming more confident every single day because of this leadership. When a player knows they are supported and encouraged, they aren’t afraid to fail. That safety is what turns a “good athlete” into a confident person who isn’t afraid to take the big shot. It’s not about the trophy; it’s about the belief planted in the player’s heart.
“To the good coaches out there: You are rare, and you are needed more than ever.”
A Huge Day for #7
The atmosphere in Panama City Beach was electric, and the Kilcrease 11U squad showed up to play! His team took home the “W” in both games, and I loved getting to capture the grit behind the plate. Brody worked his tail off, catching every single inning.
To top it all off, he stepped up in the final game and hit the walk-off to bring in the winning run! Watching him walk away with the game ball was the cherry on top. Hard work definitely pays off!
Why Coaching Matters
Unfortunately, it’s a reality in youth sports that a coach can either fuel an athlete’s passion or extinguish it. When coaches lead with favoritism or constant criticism, they don’t just lose games—they risk crushing a child’s confidence.
To everyone out there on the sidelines: remember, you’re not just coaching a sport; you’re coaching a human being. Don’t be the reason they walk away from something they once loved.
Way to go, Brody! So incredibly proud of you!
