This 30A Photography FAQ covers everything you need to know.

Booking is simple. Fill out the contact form on this page with your preferred dates, session type, and a little about your family. You’ll receive a response immediately with current availability, pricing, and next steps. To officially reserve your 30A photography session date, a signed contract and session fee are required. Dates are held on a first-come, first-served basis, especially during peak spring break, summer, and fall seasons along 30A and Destin.

We recommend booking your 30A or Destin photography session at least 3–6 months in advance, especially if you’re traveling for spring break (March), summer (June–August), or fall (September–November). These are our busiest seasons and dates fill quickly. Sunset sessions during peak weeks book out 6+ months ahead. Last-minute sessions are sometimes possible during off-peak winter and early-spring dates, so don’t hesitate to reach out even if your trip is just a few weeks away.

Both offer beautiful light — it really comes down to your family. Sunrise sessions are quieter, cooler, and the beach is nearly empty — perfect for families with young children, babies, or anyone wanting peaceful, uncrowded photos. Sunset sessions deliver that warm, golden-hour glow and work best for older kids, teens, and extended family groups. Either way, every session is shot during golden hour when the light along the Emerald Coast is at its most flattering.

The 30A photography experience investment varies based on session length, number of locations, and the digital collection you choose. Family beach sessions, senior portraits, and maternity sessions each have their own collections designed for different needs. Full pricing details are shared during the inquiry process so I can tailor recommendations to your story. Reach out for current pricing and you’ll receive a detailed investment guide immediately.

The session fee covers the booking and shooting of your 30A photography session. Digital files, prints, and wall art are sold separately so you only pay for the images you love. About 1–3 weeks after your session, you’ll receive a private online gallery to review your images for 15 days. Need help choosing favorites or visualizing prints on the wall? We can set up a Zoom design meeting to walk through your gallery together and build a print order that fits your home.

Single Family Sessions include Mom, Dad, and the kids.

Extended Family Sessions are designed for the whole crew — Mom, Dad, kids, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Simple Senior Sessions are styled around just the senior, while Extended Senior Sessions can include family members, siblings, and even pets.

Whatever your group size, we’ll plan timing, location, and posing groupings ahead of time so the session feels relaxed and every important person is captured beautifully.

Absolutely — extended family beach photography is one of our favorite sessions. We regularly photograph multi-generational gatherings of 10, 15, or 20+ people, from grandparents down to brand-new babies. These sessions require a little extra planning around timing, location, and posing groupings, but the results are heirloom images your family will treasure for generations. Watercolor, Watersound, and Carillon Beach are our top picks for extended family beach photos because they offer more space and softer crowds.

Most sessions take place near where you’re staying. Depending on your accommodations, we’ll recommend a beach access anywhere from Destin to Rosemary Beach. With advance notice, we also travel to Navarre, Pensacola, Gulf Shores, Panama City Beach, and Cape San Blas. Senior sessions often include one or two locations, planned around your personal style. Please chat with us about session locations before booking to confirm scheduling allows for travel.

There’s no single “best” beach — it depends on the look you want. Rosemary Beach is unmatched for European-inspired courtyards and cobblestone streets. Alys Beach offers stunning all-white architecture for modern, editorial portraits. Seaside brings that classic pastel-cottage Americana feel. Grayton Beach is rustic and barefoot. Watercolor and Watersound are favorites for extended family sessions.

When you book, we’ll walk you through every option based on where you’re staying.

Absolutely. After booking, every client receives a personalized Style & Prep Guide with outfit suggestions, sample color palettes, clothing images, and direct links to family-friendly brands — making shopping for “what to wear” simple. The guide also includes a “Day of Checklist” so you don’t forget anything. We’ll review your outfit choices before the session to make sure everything photographs beautifully together. Coordinated (not matchy) is the goal — soft neutrals, creams, blues, and earthy tones that pair perfectly with the white sand and emerald water of 30A.

Florida weather can be unpredictable, but we plan for it. If storms or unsafe conditions are forecast, we’ll reschedule your 30A photography session at no charge for another date during your trip. Light overcast or partly cloudy skies actually produce some of the most flattering portraits — soft, even light without harsh shadows — so we rarely reschedule for clouds alone. We monitor the forecast closely the week of your session and stay in close contact so you’re never left guessing what’s happening.

Professional hair and makeup is highly recommended for family beach sessions, senior portraits, engagement sessions, and maternity sessions — it photographs better on camera and helps you feel confident in front of the lens. We partner with several talented 30A and Destin-based artists and are happy to send recommendations after booking.

Keep in mind it’s always windy on the beach so having a professional there to tame the hair & use products that hold up against the coastal humidity is worth it.

Yes — and please don’t worry. Most of our clients tell us they hate having their picture taken before the session and end up having a blast during it. We guide you through every pose, prompt natural interactions between family members, and capture the candid in-between moments where the real magic happens. You don’t need experience, you don’t need to know what to do with your hands, and you definitely don’t need to “smile pretty.” Just show up, be present with your family, and we’ll handle the rest.

Pack light — less is more on the beach. Bring outfits laid out and ready to go (no last-minute ironing on the sand), a small towel or blanket to sit on between shots, water bottles for everyone, and snacks for little ones. Babies and toddlers do best with a favorite small toy or pacifier kept out of sight. Skip the heavy makeup retouch kits and accessories you won’t need. We provide a full “Day of Checklist” in your Style & Prep Guide after booking.

Pets, lollies, loveys, tutus, capes, umbrellas, instruments – whatever makes you and them happy. Same goes for seniors and adults!

Life happens, and we understand. Sessions can typically be rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice, subject to availability. If weather forces a reschedule, we’ll move your session at no charge to another date during your trip. For non-weather reschedules, we do our best to accommodate within the same season. Specific reschedule terms are outlined in your session contract — please reach out as soon as you know about a conflict so we can find the next best option.

Within 1–3 weeks of your 30A photography session, you’ll receive a private online gallery containing your fully edited images. The gallery stays open for 15 days for you to view, favorite, share, and order prints & digital collections. Each image is hand-edited for color, tone, and skin retouching — no batch filters or AI shortcuts.

Yes — every image delivered is hand-edited by Amanda personally. That includes color grading, tonal adjustments, light skin smoothing, and removing distractions where appropriate (random beach-goers, stray items in the sand, etc.). We do not use AI batch filters or one-click presets — each image gets individual attention so it matches the polished, timeless look our clients expect. Heavier retouching (body sculpting, blemish removal beyond standard) is available as an add-on for sessions.
