Sunset Beach Photography on 30A & Destin

Luxury Sunset Family Photography on Florida’s Emerald Coast

As a sunset beach photographer, I specialize in evening sessions that take full advantage of golden hour, vivid skies, and the calm, warm light along the shorelines of Destin, Miramar Beach, Seaside, Seagrove, Watercolor, Watersound, 30A, SoWal (South Walton), Okaloosa Island, Grayton Beach, Frangista Beach, Crystal Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, the Sandestin area, Seacrest, Rosemary Beach, Inlet Beach, and other beautiful Florida locations. My sunset sessions are relaxed and story driven. I use the rich, directional light of sunset to create flattering portraits, dramatic silhouettes, and wide, cinematic beach scenes.

Sessions focus on real moments, gentle direction, and a mix of candid and composed images so you come away with a varied gallery that works for prints, announcements, and wall art.

I plan shoots around sunset times, tides, and the best light to capture beautiful colors and reflections. I also help with simple wardrobe and timing so everyone feels comfortable in the cooler evening breeze. Whether you want a family sunset session, a couples shoot, a senior beach portrait, or a lifestyle gallery, I bring calm professionalism and an eye for the moments you will treasure.

Finding the right 30A & Destin photographer for your beach vacation should be the easiest part of your trip. Fortunately, my 18+ years of experience as an Emerald Coast storyteller allows me to provide a luxury experience that feels completely effortless.

Although my background is in journalism, I have spent my career capturing the joy, laughter, and legacy of families just like yours. As a result, I bring decades of expertise to capturing families’ memories on our beautiful local 30A & Destin beaches and I would love to document yours as well.

I don’t know where to even begin! Amanda’s work is exceptional, and our children are still talking about how much fun the shoot was! She made it so easy and enjoyable, even with four kiddos who rarely sit still, let alone smile in the same direction! The images she captured blew us away and are memories we will cherish forever. The only difficulty is narrowing down our favorites because we love them all! Thank you Amanda! 10/10 recommended!

A sunset session is the easiest “yes” for most families and couples. You don’t have to wake anyone up before dawn, you can ease into the day naturally, and you’ll arrive at the beach relaxed instead of rushed. Sunset sessions work especially well for families with young children who are typically at their best after an unhurried afternoon, for couples on vacation who want to enjoy their morning, and for anyone visiting 30A or Destin who’d rather spend their evening on the sand than setting an alarm for 5 a.m.

The light at sunset is also wonderfully forgiving and dramatic. Golden hour brings warm, directional light that flatters every skin tone, followed by vivid skies that often turn pink, orange, and lavender along the Gulf. As the sun dips lower, you get longer shadows, glowing silhouettes, and that signature Emerald Coast glow on the water, perfect for both classic portraits and more cinematic, wide beach scenes.

Practically speaking, sunset sessions are easier to plan around dinner reservations, naps, and travel days. The breeze tends to be gentler, the beach is winding down, and outfits in flowing fabrics catch the light beautifully. If you want a session that feels like a relaxed, golden end to your beach day, with imagery to match,  sunset is hard to beat.

That said, both times of day are beautiful in their own way. Sunrise gives you quieter beaches and softer pastel tones; sunset gives you warmth, drama, and a more flexible schedule. If you’re not sure which fits your group, I’m happy to help you choose based on your travel plans, the season, and the look you’re hoping for.

I only shoot on the beach at Sunset (Click here for Samples) or just before Sunset (Click here for Samples). The actual time of the session will depend on the time of the year you will be here.

These times are to maximize the use of natural light. These times are the best times of the day to take photos on the beach. We are limited due to the very BRIGHT and HOT sun that reflects off the water and white sand. Doing sessions on the beach at any other times during the day would cause very bright photos and A LOT of squinting.

  • Simple Session Fee is $300
  • Extended Session Fee is $600
  • The session fee covers booking & shooting of the session.
  • Additionally, all digital files, prints & products are sold separately from the session fee.
  • Approximately 1-3 weeks after your session I will send over an online gallery for you to review the images for 15 days.  If you need help in selecting images or would like to see images on the wall (YES, I really can do that) then we can set up a Zoom design meeting to put a print order together.

Yes, I have a few options for Digital Collections. Please complete the CONTACT FORM for more information & detailed pricing.

The session fee is due to book any session & is NON-REFUNDABLE. All session fees are paid via online with a Credit Card at time of booking. Session Fee is transferable to another date within a year of originally booked date. I try my hardest to get sessions re-booked within the time you are in town. This is why I need a good cell number to call you at while you are in town, just in case we need to reschedule our session.

Payment plans are available for the print orders.

Individual Family Sessions include Mom, Dad & kids.

Extended Family Sessions include the Whole Family. Mom, Dad, Kids, Grandparents, Aunts. Uncles, etc.

I prefer to shoot at a location near you. Depending on where you are staying I can recommend a beach access. That is usually anywhere from Destin to Rosemary Beach. Depending on my schedule I will occasionally shoot in Navarre, Pensacola, Gulf Shores, Panama City Beach all the way to Cape San Blas.

Please chat with me about locations BEFORE you book to confirm my schedule allows for me to travel.

After you book, you will receive a “Pre Session Questionnaire. This will help me get to know you prior to the session.  You will also get the link to my NEWStyle & Prep Guide” which has a ton of information like sample color palettes with clothing images & direct links to make shopping for “what to wear” so easy. The guide also has tips for prepping for your session & a “Day of Checklist”  to make sure you don’t forget anything.

If we are shooting on the beach PLEASE remember that it’s ALWAYS windy on the beach. I STRONGLY suggest leaving hair & make-up to the pros. They are used to the beach wind & humidity and not to mention its a great excuse to get a little bit of pampering before the session. In the “Client Guide” which you get after you book there will be a list of local ladies that I highly recommend.

I STRONGLY suggest to take make the time to get hair & make-up done for any photo shoot.

Absolutely! In fact, that’s what I’m known for!

Throughout your session, I’ll give you tons of ideas and directions to help you feel completely at ease. You’ll also get gentle coaching to feel like the beauty queen you are, though don’t be surprised if I ask you to walk towards me like you’re on a catwalk or give me your ‘soft smile’ aka smirk! (Consider yourself warned! ;))

Ideally, a well rested, well fed, happy child. Since we know that doesn’t always happen as planned, feel free to bring some snacks and a few of your child’s favorite things to help them feel comfortable and enjoy our play date.

Pets, lollies, loveys, tutus, capes, umbrellas, instruments – whatever makes you and them happy. Same goes for seniors and adults!

We understand that unexpected things come up. If you need to reschedule, please call us as soon as possible. If you are sick,  it is better to go ahead and reschedule your session. The session fee can be transferred towards another session on another date as long as you re-book within 12 months from your original appointment time as schedule allows.

Shhhhh we don’t say that word around here it’s always sunny in Florida! Right?

It’s a less than 90% chance of rain at the location we will wait till just before session to see if it’s actually raining. If it’s a 100% chance of rain I still wait till 2-3 hours before the session before calling it off. I have had MANY MANY times that we have called off the session at Noon and then at 5-6pm it was gorgeous on the beach and raining inland. If it does happen to be raining during your session we will figure out the next best time for both of our schedules before you leave to go home. That may mean getting up at sunset (I know that is usually VERY early but it’s gorgeous & cooler than sunset).

If for some reason we can not reschedule during this visit your session fee is transferable to another date within a year of our original date scheduled.

In 2-3 weeks, your images will be ready.

  • How does the “Online Gallery” work?  I will upload your 30+ edited images with a watermark on them. You will have 15 days to make your purchasing decisions. If you are having a hard time deciding you can schedule a Zoom design meeting with me to go over images & see images on your walls. I do charge $200 extending gallery fee, please make your selections before the gallery expires.
After your session the images will be color corrected, brightness adjusted & some editing to them.

However, I do not heavily edit, “retouch” or “detail edit” every image in your gallery. As a result, some images in your gallery will have more touch-ups than others. I do this intentionally to demonstrate the achievable edits, such as removing people from the background, “popping” the colors, removing bruises, touching up “boo boo’s”, etc. This is to provide you with an idea of the final result. The majority of the images in the gallery will NOT undergo detailed editing.

For the images you select to purchase in your digital collection or print through me, I am happy to detail edit. In my experience, many images are nearly perfect except for specific areas that may require editing. Therefore, I will include some images in your gallery that I anticipate will need additional edits.

“Amanda had done several sessions for my family and each one has been a fun, memorable experience. With two small kids I always worry about not getting any good shots due to the littles not wanting to cooperate, but Amanda manages to get the best pictures! She is so good with kids, very patient and knows just how to get them interested! No matter what the conditions outside, she always gets those really creative, insanely amazing photos. She is the first photographer I think of when someone asks me for recommendations! Highly professional, very friendly, quality work. You can’t go wrong!!”

“If you’re looking for a photographer who is patient, kind, and genuinely great with kids, look no further than Amanda! She recently photographed our family and managed to capture the true spirit of all my children. As a mom to a son with autism, I’m often worried about how photo sessions will go, but Amanda was so accommodating and patient. She got ‘insanely amazing’ shots of him that we will treasure forever. 10/10 recommend!”

“Amanda is absolutely fantastic! She did some photos for my finance and I that were absolutely breathtaking. The shoot was a little early but that suggestion made the light and the sky absolutely POP as the perfect background for our shoot! Highly recommend for anyone doing family or engagement shoots!”

Amanda recently captured engagement photos on Watersound Beach for my fiance and me. She even included our parents in on a few of them, which made the experience all the more special. She did SUCH an amazing job telling us exactly how to pose for the best shot, and she had many creative ideas. Not to mention the fact that she was always very quick to respond to calls, texts, and emails throughout the entire process! Whenever I decide to have another beach photo shoot, I will hands down choose Amanda again! We are so happy with the product and quality of her work. Give her a chance and you will absolutely love it too!!

Amanda is incredibly talented, professional, and offers quality products. These are the photos that will be part of our family’s story for generations to come.”
