Sandestin Photographer | Chang Family Sunrise Beach Session

I just love my Texas families! Today I had the honor of photographing the beautiful Chang family who flew in from Houston for their 30A vacation. As a Destin photographer based on the Emerald Coast, I get the chance to work with so many traveling families — and the Texas crowd is consistently some of my favorite people to put in front of the camera.

A Texas Family Vacationing in Destin

I actually lived in the Houston area for a brief time and absolutely adored the people and the city. Florida is home now, but Texas is where I go to vacation and (let’s be honest) eat my weight in Tex-Mex. Like most people from Texas, the Chang family was super nice and incredibly accommodating, which made the entire session feel like hanging out with old friends.

A Last-Minute Sunrise Booking That Turned Out Magical

I was completely booked for the Changs’ vacation week, but a last-minute sunrise cancellation opened up and they jumped on it. Bless this family for getting up early — sunrise sessions are honestly one of my favorite times to photograph families on 30A. The beach is empty, the light is soft and pastel, and you walk away with a gallery that feels completely yours. Cotton Candy Skies and Coordinated Denim & White

The colors that morning were absolutely majestic — cotton-candy clouds in pinks and peaches stretched across the sky, paired with gentle 1-2 foot waves rolling in. The Chang family wore the perfect denim-and-white beach bliss ensembles that complemented the soft sunrise palette beautifully. We had smiles for miles from mom, dad, and their three handsome boys all morning long.

The Best Part? Letting the Kids Play in the Water

No family beach session ends without letting the kids play in the water — it is always their favorite part, and honestly some of my favorite frames every time. The three Chang brothers had a blast splashing in the foam and chasing each other through the shore break. Those unposed, real-laugh moments are the photos families end up loving most years down the road.
