Madden Family Watercolor Photo Session
Meet the wonderful Madden family! As their Watercolor Family Photographer, I had the joy of capturing this kind, easygoing family during a sunset session that started in the gardens and ended at the beach. I know this family personally, and their warmth made every frame feel natural and full of love. From their perfectly coordinated outfits to their endless laughter, the Maddens were a dream to photograph.
Starting at the Watercolor Gardens
We began the session at the beautiful water features inside Watercolor, one of the most photogenic communities along 30A. The lush landscaping, cypress trees, and reflective ponds created a peaceful setting for the first portraits of the evening. The kids ran along the boardwalks while mom and dad shared quiet moments — exactly the kind of candid energy that makes a session feel real.
Sunset Beach Portraits
From the gardens we transitioned to the Watercolor beach access for golden-hour family portraits. The soft pastel sky reflected off the Gulf and gave us that dreamy 30A light I’m always chasing. Working as a Watercolor family photographer, sunset is hands-down my favorite time to shoot on the beach because the light is forgiving and the colors are magical.
Coordinated Outfits Done Right
Choosing what to wear is one of the most common questions I get, and the Maddens nailed it. Soft neutrals, layered textures, and complementary tones kept the focus on the family rather than the clothing. Their outfits are a perfect “what to wear” example I share with clients planning their own beach session.
Why Watercolor Is a Top Family Location
Watercolor combines lush garden scenery with white sand beaches, making it one of the most versatile spots along 30A. Explore more sessions like this on my family photography portfolio for inspiration on locations, styling, and posing.
Thanks again to the Madden family for such a fun evening — can’t wait to photograph y’all again soon!
