There’s a unique kind of beauty in family photography — capturing the love, the laughter, and the unspoken bonds. Recently, as a Destin photographer, I had the joy of working with a wonderful family — a mom and her two beautiful kids — at the jetties in Destin, Florida.

Destin’s jetties are known for their rugged charm and stunning ocean views, and they made the perfect backdrop for this session. Despite the chill in the air, the family arrived bundled up and ready for adventure.

The cool weather added a fresh, vibrant energy to the shoot, and the clear skies promised beautiful natural light from start to finish.

The stars of our session were a spirited mom, her playful son, and her adorable daughter. Their connection was palpable, filling the air with warmth despite the chilly breeze.

They chose the jetties because they love the outdoors and wanted family photos in a place that felt both wild and serene — and it showed in every frame.

From the start, it was clear the cold wouldn’t dampen our spirits. The children’s laughter echoed against the sound of the waves, creating a lively, joy-filled atmosphere.

We played with different setups, using the jetties’ rocks as natural props and the vast Gulf as a stunning backdrop. The family’s interactions were heartwarming — from the tender way mom adjusted her son’s scarf to the giggles shared between her and her daughter. These candid, genuine moments are exactly what I aim to capture in every family session.

Among my favorite shots were the ones where the family huddled together, looking out at the Gulf. There was something incredibly powerful in the way they stood — united and strong, yet so full of tenderness.

As we wrapped up, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for being able to capture these moments. The cold was easily forgotten amid the warmth of their bond. This session wasn’t just about taking photos — it was about creating memories this family will treasure for years to come.

To this wonderful family — thank you for a fantastic session. Your energy and love for each other turned a cold day at the jetties into a truly heartwarming experience.
