Iowa is known for its beef, corn, pork, and three state universities. But look out, friends — it may soon be known for this gorgeous girl! Meet Ava, a graduating 2023 senior who loves cheer, tennis, cross country, and playing her flute. As a Rosemary Beach senior photographer, I felt SO blessed to capture Ava’s senior portraits after some late afternoon storms blew through the area and left us with the most dreamy clouds and sunset light along 30A.

A Storm-Kissed Rosemary Beach Senior Session

The weather almost didn’t cooperate, but the storms cleared just in time and gave us the most incredible dissipating cloud cover with golden sunset hues breaking through. We shot in locations around Rosemary Beach town and on the beautiful white sands of our infamous Emerald Coast. The mix of architecture and shoreline made Ava’s gallery feel layered and full of variety, which is everything I want for a senior session.

Outfit One: Sage Green Wrap Top in Town

We started in Rosemary Beach town on the wide brick porch steps of a storefront draped in beautiful trailing ivy. Ava wore a soft sage green wrap top with light-wash ripped jeans — the perfect casual-cool outfit for those preppy, coastal architectural backdrops. The brick steps, the ivy, and the warm afternoon light made for the prettiest in-town frames.

Outfit Two: White Tiered Sundress

Next, we changed into a sweet white tiered mini sundress and headed to the beach for golden hour. The white against Ava’s dark hair and tan skin was just stunning, and the soft surf and warm sand made the dreamiest backdrop. We caught little twirls in the wind, sweet sunset smiles, and a soft barefoot walk along the shoreline.

Outfit Three: Peach-Orange Satin Slip Dress

Ava saved my favorite for last — a gorgeous peachy-orange satin slip dress that was a perfect match to the dissipating storm clouds above her. The sunset hues made her dark hair and eyes stand out exquisitely, and we got the most beautiful frames of her sitting at the surf line, walking through the foam, and standing in the warm wet sand as the waves rolled in behind her. This dress against that sky? Pure magic.
