Watersound Photographer — Family & Senior Portraits on 30A

“Secluded Coastal Haven” on Florida’s Emerald Coast

Watersound photographer — couple walking the dune boardwalk at sunset on Watersound Beach, Florida

Hi, I’m Amanda Eubank, and I have been photographing on Scenic 30A for over a decade. During that time, I have worked with hundreds of families, high school seniors, couples, and surprise proposals along Florida’s Emerald Coast. From the sugar-white dunes of Watersound Beach Club to the quiet boardwalks of Watersound Origins, I know every walkover, every dune-line angle, and every pocket of perfect light. So if you are looking for a trusted beach photographer in Watersound, you are in the right place. Whether you are planning a vacation portrait, a senior session, or a milestone celebration, I would love to capture it for you.

Below, you’ll find a quick guide to the area, the sessions I offer, what to expect, and answers to the most common questions I receive from families visiting the area. Additionally, you can scroll to the bottom and use the Let’s Chat form to check my availability whenever you’re ready.

About Watersound Beach, Florida

Watersound, Florida is often called the “Secluded Coastal Haven.” It is a tranquil, upscale community nestled along the eastern end of Scenic Highway 30A. In fact, it is renowned for its pristine beaches and towering natural sand dunes. Because of this elegant coastal design, the area offers a serene escape from the busier neighbors of Seaside and Rosemary Beach. In addition, the community’s winding boardwalks, dune crossovers, and unspoiled gulf-front stretches make it one of my favorite places on 30A to shoot.

The town’s design blends coastal luxury and natural beauty. For example, the homes feature sophisticated, maritime-inspired architecture. Furthermore, the protected dune lines are some of the tallest on the Emerald Coast. As a result, they create a stunning, layered backdrop for portraits at any time of day. As your local beach photographer, I love using these features. Every session ends up with a distinctly Watersound feel that you simply can’t replicate elsewhere on 30A.

The Best Locations for a Watersound Photographer Session

Every session I photograph is tailored to the family or client. However, a few locations come up again and again, because they consistently produce magazine-worthy images. Here are my top picks:

  • Watersound Beach Club dune walkover — wide, tall dunes and a long wooden boardwalk that frames the family beautifully at sunset.
  • Watersound Origins green spaces and Lake Powell — soft golden grasses and Florida’s largest coastal dune lake make a gorgeous, less-crowded alternative to the beach.
  • The eastern Watersound public beach access — quieter than Seaside or Rosemary Beach, with long, clean horizons for wide family group shots.
  • Camp Creek + Deer Lake State Park (just east of Watersound) — perfect for senior sessions that need texture, dunes, and a true “middle of nowhere on 30A” feel.

Of course, when you book me as your portrait photographer in Watersound, I will match the location to your group size, the season, and the look you’re hoping for. Additionally, I am happy to combine two spots in a single session for added variety.

Sessions I Offer in Watersound

Whatever stage of life you are celebrating, I would love to capture it on the Watersound coastline. Therefore, as a full-service 30A photographer, I offer a wide range of sessions:

Family Beach Photography with a Watersound Photographer

Sunset family sessions are my most-booked offering. In particular, they are popular during the busy summer and Thanksgiving weeks. I work with families of every size, including couples, single-family groups, and extended multi-generational gatherings of 25 or more. Also, I love incorporating the dunes, boardwalks, and shoreline into images that feel relaxed and authentic. For real examples, see my Watersound family portfolio.

Senior Portrait Sessions on Watersound Beach

High school seniors love this area for its varied scenery. For instance, modern coastal architecture, dune lakes, and untouched beach all sit within a few minutes of each other. While I photograph senior sessions across 30A, this stretch and the adjacent Watercolor and Rosemary Beach areas remain top picks. As a result, seniors who want a polished, editorial portfolio choose them most often.

Engagement & Surprise Proposal Photography in Watersound

Planning to propose on 30A? Watersound is one of the most private, romantic spots on the coast for a surprise proposal. Moreover, I have years of experience hiding in the dunes to capture the moment. Once she says yes, I will coordinate timing, location, and a follow-up engagement mini-session as well.

Maternity, Newborn & Children Photography Near Watersound

From belly to baby to first birthday, I capture every milestone on the Emerald Coast. In particular, soft, sandy maternity sessions at sunrise look especially beautiful in the local dunes.

Sunrise vs. Sunset Sessions on Watersound Beach

The single biggest question I get from new clients is: sunrise or sunset?

Sunrise sessions are peaceful, soft, and pastel. Pinks and lavenders fill the sky. In addition, the beach is nearly empty, and the temperature stays comfortable even in July and August. As a result, sunrise is my top recommendation for families with younger kids, for newborn beach sessions, and for the busiest summer weeks.

On the other hand, sunset sessions deliver the signature Emerald Coast golden glow. They also produce the dramatic sky colors that 30A is famous for. However, they book up first, especially September through November. Therefore, reach out as early as possible to lock in a sunset slot during your vacation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Watersound Photo Sessions

For peak weeks, I recommend booking 6 to 9 months in advance. This includes Spring Break, June, July, Thanksgiving, and the week between Christmas and New Year. However, for off-peak dates, 1 to 3 months is usually plenty.
Late April through early June offers the most reliable weather and the softest golden light. Similarly, late September through early November is ideal. That said, every month on 30A produces beautiful sessions. In particular, sunsets in October and November are spectacular.
Most family sessions run about 30 minutes. Typically, we begin about before sunset, or right before sunrise. However, larger extended family groups may book an extended 45-minute session. Extra time can be added if you are wanting to do a second location. Get more details by filling out the contact form below.
Florida pop-up storms are common in summer. However, I monitor the radar closely. As a result, we will reschedule to a backup time within your trip whenever the weather requires it.
Absolutely. I photograph all along 30A — including Rosemary BeachAlys BeachSeasideWatercolor, Seacrest, Inlet Beach, and Grayton Beach — plus Destin and Miramar Beach.

What to Wear & How to Prepare for Your Watersound Beach Session

Once your session is booked, I send a full client guide with outfit ideas, location maps, and timing tips. However, here is the short version to get you started:

  • Choose a soft, cohesive color palette — creams, blush, sage, dusty blue, and warm whites photograph beautifully against the Watersound dunes.
  • Skip large logos and neon brights. Long flowing dresses, linen, and gauzy fabrics move beautifully in the gulf breeze.
  • Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to your meeting spot — parking in Watersound can be limited during peak weeks.
  • Hydrate, snack the kids, and trust the process. I’m great with squirmy toddlers and reluctant teenagers.
