Waiting for Baby Johnston in Watercolor
There is a specific kind of magic that happens during a Watercolor maternity session. The community’s blend of manicured gardens, iconic wooden bridges, and coastal architecture provides a sophisticated backdrop that feels both intimate and grand. Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing this beautiful chapter for the Johnston family as they prepare to welcome their newest addition.
Garden Bridges and Glowing Moments
One of my favorite spots for maternity portraits in Watercolor is the network of garden bridges that wind through the property. For the Johnston family, the bridge offered a perfect vantage point to capture the soft, filtered light of the late afternoon. Mom looked absolutely radiant in her flowy blush gown—a choice that added a soft, whimsical touch to the greenery of the gardens.
A Family Affair
Maternity sessions are about more than just the “bump”—they are about the family that is growing! Capturing the connection between Mom, Dad, and their daughter was the highlight of this shoot. From quiet forehead-to-forehead moments on the bridge to playful interactions as they explored the paths, the excitement for their new baby was written all over their faces.
Why Watercolor is Perfect for Maternity
As a Watercolor maternity photographer, I often recommend this location for expectant mothers who want variety without a lot of strenuous walking. We can easily transition from:
-
The Cerulean Park area for lush greenery and architectural details.
-
The iconic bridges for those classic, elevated 30A portraits.
-
The Western Lake shoreline for a sunset finish that feels uniquely Florida.
Thank you, Johnston family, for letting me document this beautiful season of waiting. I can’t wait to meet your little one soon!
