The passion I have for my profession truly comes alive when I capture photographs that resonate with my clients, touching their hearts and bringing smiles to their faces. As a Miramar Beach photographer, today was one of those extraordinary evenings — I had the pleasure of photographing the wonderful Young family on the sugar-white sand of Miramar Beach beneath a sky adorned with flowing clouds that looked like pink and purple cotton candy.

A Perfect Miramar Beach Evening

The sky was painted in soft pastels — pinks, peaches, lavenders, and a fiery orange-and-gold sunset — while the emerald-green Gulf waters provided the perfect backdrop for our family session. Miramar Beach is one of my favorite stretches of the Emerald Coast for sunset family portraits, and the Young family arrived ready to make the most of it.

Coastal Style: The Young Family’s Outfits

The Young family’s wardrobe was a dream. Mom wore a stunning sage-green off-shoulder maxi dress that flowed beautifully in the Gulf breeze. The daughter looked absolutely beautiful in a teal floral dress with a cream ruffle hem and her million-dollar smile. Dad and the boys exuded a cool coastal vibe — the older son in a crisp white button-up with rolled denim, the youngest son in a coral polo with denim jeans, and dad in a light blue shirt. Their outfits were perfectly coordinated, striking that lovely balance between unique and intentional — never falling into the cliché “matchy-matchy” look. It was such a pleasure to capture them; they were simply spectacular.

Full Family Portraits at the Water’s Edge

We started with classic full-family portraits at the water line — the five of them standing together with the emerald shoreline behind them, then walking hand-in-hand toward the camera as a peach-and-rose twilight sky glowed overhead. We caught a beautiful tight family hug glowing in sunset light, a group hug in the soft sand under a vivid pink-and-orange sky, and a few quieter walking frames as the family moved along the shoreline together.

Sibling & Individual Frames

Once the family group shots were in the bag, we broke out individual portraits and sibling combinations. The older son stood tall and confident in his white button-up and denim. The youngest son grinned and giggled in his coral polo, seated in soft sand under a blush-and-lavender twilight sky. The daughter spun and twirled in her teal floral dress, ruffles catching the breeze beneath a creamy peach sky. We caught all three siblings posed close together, the two brothers laughing in the sand, and the sister and youngest brother smiling sweetly side by side.

Sweet Mama Moments

Some of my very favorite frames from this Miramar Beach session were the quiet moments between mom and her kids. We caught her surrounded by all three children, embraced by the three of them at sunset, planting a kiss on her daughter, cuddling her daughter in the sand, twirling her daughter beside the Gulf, and standing in a quiet pose with her older son. Every parent should have a few wall-art-worthy frames just like these.

Playful Moments & Toes in the Sand

As the session wrapped up, we found ourselves with toes in the warm sand capturing fun water photos that brought laughter and joy to everyone. Dad twirled his daughter while her brothers cheered in the surf, the older brother gave his little sister a piggyback ride beneath a glowing twilight sky, and the youngest son splashed barefoot at the shoreline. This easy, joyful play is exactly why people flock to Miramar Beach every year, and I’m thrilled the Young family could bask in its beauty.

Why I Love Photographing Families at Miramar Beach

  • Miramar Beach’s sugar-white sand and emerald Gulf waters are some of the most photogenic on 30A and the Emerald Coast.
  • The wide, open shoreline gives families plenty of room to walk, run, and play without crowds.
  • Sunset over Miramar paints the sky in pinks, peaches, lavenders, and fiery oranges — a dream for family portraits.
  • The mix of full-family, sibling, individual, and playful candid frames creates a layered gallery that tells the whole story.

What to Expect from a Miramar Beach Sunset Family Session

My Miramar Beach sunset family sessions typically run about 60 to 75 minutes, beginning roughly an hour before sunset. We move through full family standing and walking portraits, parent-only frames, sibling combinations, individual portraits of each child, and plenty of candid playtime in the surf. I prompt with movement and connection (twirling, piggybacks, walking, hugs) so the gallery feels real rather than posed, and you’ll receive a mix of color and black-and-white edits.

Serving Families Across Miramar Beach and the Emerald Coast

In addition to Miramar Beach, I photograph families across Destin, Sandestin, Santa Rosa Beach, Dune Allen, Gulf Place, Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton Beach, Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove Beach, WaterSound, Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach, and Inlet Beach. Miramar Beach — with its wide shoreline and dreamy pastel sunset skies — remains one of my very favorite spots for family portraits.

A Treasured Family Memory

I’ve selected a few of my favorite shots for you to enjoy, and I hope they bring you as much joy as I experienced while capturing them. The Young family was a delight from start to finish, and I cannot wait to see them again next year.
