There’s something truly magical about capturing the milestone moments of a young person’s life. As a Destin Jetties senior photographer, I have the privilege of being part of these special times, and each session is a new adventure. Today I’m thrilled to share Miss C’s recent senior portrait session at one of my very favorite spots on the Emerald Coast: the jetties in Destin, Florida.

The Scenic Beauty of the Destin Jetties

Destin is known for its stunning white beaches and crystal-clear emerald waters, and it offers a long list of picturesque spots — but the East Jetty stands out as a uniquely beautiful backdrop for senior portraits. The rugged limestone boulders, set against the soft sand and the rolling Gulf waves, create a striking contrast you can’t find anywhere else on 30A. There’s a quiet, cinematic quality to the jetties at golden hour that lends every frame a sense of strength and stillness.

Meet Miss C, Our Star of the Day

Our session was with Miss C — a bright, vivacious senior ready to step into the next chapter of her life. Her choice of the Destin Jetties for her senior photos was inspired by her love of the Gulf and her passion for adventure. Miss C’s personality shone through in every frame, from her radiant smile to her quiet, contemplative moments tucked among the boulders. She arrived in a gorgeous blue floral toile dress that moved beautifully in the Gulf breeze and caught the warm sunset light in every photograph.

A Session Filled with Laughter and Last Light

We started the session in the late afternoon, taking full advantage of the golden hour. The warm sunlight complemented Miss C’s blue floral toile dress perfectly, and we worked through a beautiful range of frames — laughing at the last light of the day, leaning against limestone boulders, seated quietly on stone, arms wrapped around her knees while looking out at the dreamy ocean horizon, and standing with the floral toile fluttering in the Gulf breeze. The natural scenery of the jetties added a dynamic element to every photo, with the rocks and waves creating real movement around her.

The Magic of the Golden Hour

As the sun began to set, the sky transformed into a canvas of pastel oranges, peaches, and pinks, creating an ethereal glow. This magical light brought an extra layer of beauty to our session — sun-kissed cheeks, blonde waves catching the breeze, soft cloud streaks above, and one of my favorite frames of Miss C with one hand resting on the rock as side-lit warmth wrapped around her. Standing atop the limestone with the sunset behind her, we captured some of the most breathtaking photos of the evening.

What to Expect from a Destin Jetties Senior Session

My Destin Jetties senior sessions typically run about 60 to 90 minutes, beginning roughly 75 minutes before sunset. We move between the soft sand, the limestone boulders, and the water’s edge — capturing standing portraits, seated frames on the rocks, contemplative profiles, candid laughter, and a few quiet, moody black-and-white edits in the final gallery. I prompt with subtle movement (hair tucks, looking out toward the horizon, walking, leaning) so portraits feel alive and elegant rather than posed.

In addition to the Destin Jetties, I photograph seniors across Destin, Miramar Beach, Sandestin, Santa Rosa Beach, Dune Allen, Gulf Place, Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton Beach, Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove Beach, WaterSound, Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach, and Inlet Beach.
